Why day trips are good for your health

A well planned and executed day trip can turn your week around and let you breath in some fresh air and think about your life with a perspective that you cannot get in the city. It is recommended that one takes a drive out of the city and discovers the natural gems that are waiting at your doorstop. You don’t have to take a full day to walk, swim or drive your way around and you will soon discover the serene slow paced lifestyle of rural Australia.

Take a group of friends or go on a solitary adventure for a little slice of heaven and you have a choice of patting wild animals, swimming under freshwater waterfalls or hiking for spectacular views. If this doesn’t tickle your fancy, pack yourself a homemade picnic and find yourself an idyllic grassy area to relax and enjoy the sunshine and good company. Day trips are short but very sweet and the time constraint of just one day makes you savour every moment and appreciate the time you have out of the hustle and bustle of city life. Most of the national parks or hikes you will visit won’t have reception, meaning you will experience everything through your own eyes and not a lens which gives you a much needed break from emails, social media and the like.

If you are in a constant weekly loop of work, exercise, Netflix and food, then the day trip is you’re much needed break from this repetitive lifestyle. Go out and pat a sheep, cow, horse and kangaroo or hike up a very steep mountain for the view and your mental health will love you for it! There’s a reason why people who live in the country are so relaxed.
